PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- Students from Joe T. Robinson and Maumelle High recently attended the Aim High Career Day at the Little Rock Air Force Base.
Maumelle High seniors Gabe Mathews, Mitchell Lachowsky, and Darrell Jones attended, along with juniors Nicky Barnhart, Chris Strong, Maurice Mosby, Jada Wallace, and Stephan Boland. Andrew Cheatham, senior from Joe T. Robinson High, also attended. These students were sponsored by Dr. Lori Lachowsky and Mrs. Sherry McCarty.
Students participated in a panel discussion with airmen about their reasons for enlisting and information about the career field they have entered. In addition to a tour of Base facilities, students watched combat dog training and visited the virtual reality lab where airmen put in training hours before working on a real C130. Students also got to board a C130 and inspect the cargo hold and cockpit while hearing from airmen about their daily responsibilities.
Students also got to experience some Air Force training when they put on an 83 pound EOD protection suit, ran 50 yards, did 12 pushups, and one student even completed an additional 15 squats.
This marked the first time in years that students were invited onto the Little Rock Air Force Base.
