PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- A senior from Maumelle High School has been selected as a 2022 National Merit Scholar. Eva Casto is one of approximately 1,000 students from across the country, and just four in Arkansas, to have earned this honor.
Eva has a 4.357 GPA and scored a 36 on her ACT, a perfect score, in January 2020! She is involved in the Maumelle City Youth Council, volunteers with the Arkansas Food Bank, and attended the 2021 Arkansas Governor’s School. She also founded the Maumelle High ACT prep/tutoring club and is a member of the Maumelle High Band and the National Honor Society Vice President.
"Eva is an absolute joy to work with, said Maumelle High Counselor Allyson Owens-Horton. “We are very proud of her accomplishments and excited to see the great things she will do in the future!"
Eva has also been named to the 2022 Arkansas Times Academic All-Stars Team. Since 1995, Arkansas Times has highlighted top academic achievers in the state in this annual special feature. The academic “all-stars” are recognized for their academic achievements, humanitarian efforts and other extracurricular activities. Eva was selected from a group of more than 100 students as a member of the 2022 Arkansas Times Academic All-Stars Team.
Eva was also recognized by Governor Asa Hutchinson during his Governor's Scholastic day.
This is the second year in a row that a Maumelle High student has been selected as a National Merit Scholar. Last year Clayton Boothe earned the honor.
