Lawson Elementary

Students at LAWSON ELEMENTARY got a special hello from one of the school employees. Ms. Haynes was part of the volunteer team passing out lunches. She sat in her car and waved at students as they picked up meals. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence view image

Sylvan Hills Middle

How's this for a random act of kindness? SYLVAN HILLS MIDDLE principal, Mr. Hudgeons, mowed a neighbor's yard (front and back) since she was unable to do so herself. Thanks, Mr. Hudgeons for setting such a great example of being a good neighbor! #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence view image

Message from the Superintendent to PCSSD Families

Dr. Charles McNulty

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! Here in the Pulaski County Special School District we have committed ourselves to providing our students with the skills to choose:

  • To select a career path that is filled with limitless opportunities.

  • To find fulfillment in school, work, family and community throughout the educational journey.

  • To support student choice.

This year we are an AVID school district where teaching is focused on Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR) strategies that provide our students with a 21st century skills foundation. We expanded our blended learning opportunities by adding Joe T. Robinson High School to our DRIVEN Blended program (joining Mills and Maumelle high schools) and we’re launching DRIVEN Academy powered by TechTrep Academy for our home school students. Such an expansion of our blended learning opportunities puts us lock-step in-line with Career and Technical Education initiatives put forward by our county’s Chamber of Commerces.

We will celebrate each student with our Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS) at every school to ensure that we continue to strive to build a culture of inclusion and community. Our students experienced academic success observed through increases in ACT scores in 2018-2019. As an educational organization, we must continue to move forward together as a community of learners and leaders and deepen our commitment to the promise of Equity and Excellence for all students.

We look forward to working with you and your child next year to fulfill that promise!

Have a great school year,

Dr. Charles McNulty signature Dr. Charles McNulty
