MAUMELLE, Ark. -- Pine Forest Elementary art teacher, Patricia McCauley, will receive the Distinguished Service within the Profession Award by the Arkansas Art Educators association at their upcoming virtual conference this Fall.
Ms. McCauley has been an art educator for 17 years. Principal Thomas at Pine Forest Elementary also recognized McCauley for her dedication to her students. And in 2018 she was honored to be the recipient of the Arkansas Elementary Art Educator of the Year award.
McCauley attended the University of Central Arkansas as a non-traditional student and was not intending to be an educator. As she tells it, after a few fine arts classes, she changed majors and never looked back.
She would like to thank her family for all their support. And her Pine Forest and PCSSD family for their support, encouragement, and appreciation. She also gives a grateful thank you veteran art teacher Penny Bassham for her support, wisdom, and friendship. She would also like to thank four very special University of Central Arkansas professors, Dr. Jeff Young and Dr. Deborah Kuster, her role models for art educators, Dr. Gayle Seymour, who shared her love of art history and Mr. Roger Bowman, who taught her how to draw.
